Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is supposed to come about when we reflect on our activities and realize how good the Lord has been in our daily experiences. When we engage in thanksgiving, we recognize how the Lord has protected, provided for, and guided us through life’s most challenging moments. These moments allow us to see how he has been gracious to us and give thanks.

There are several places in the Book of Psalms that not only showcase a believer participating in thanksgiving but also provide examples of what thanking the Lord can look like. For example, “I will give thanks to the Lord because of his righteousness, I will sing the praises of the name of the Lord most high.” (Psalm 7:17)

Another example is from Psalm 9:1, in which it states, “I will give thanks to you, Lord, with all my heart; I will tell of all your wonderful deeds.” The Almighty God truly is awesome in the many ways he helps humankind. Some other passages from the book of Psalms that are highly recommended include Psalm 107:8, Psalm 100:4-5, and Psalm 118:19.

But most importantly, we should always keep Psalm 136:1-3 in our hearts, as it enjoins us to “Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good. His love endures forever. Give thanks to the God of gods. His love endures forever, and we are to give thanks to the Lord of lords: His love endures forever.”

Thank you so much for reading today. The next post will be posted on July 7.
