Today, I am going to showcase another “elect” chosen by God, Moses. Long before he was elected for a purpose, Moses took the law into his own hands. He killed an Egyptian who was maltreating an Israelite (Exodus 2:11-12). The aftermath found him fleeing to Midian.
Then God called him in Exodus 3 and outlined a purpose for him through the flames of fire from within a bush. Moses saw that though the bush was on fire, it did not burn up. This aroused his curiosity, and he made to go and investigate the spectacle, and the Lord spoke: “Moses! Moses!” The Lord called out to him and thereafter gave instructions. In verse seven, the Lord said, “I have indeed seen the misery of my people in Egypt. I have heard them crying out because of their slave drivers, and I am concerned about their suffering.”
In verse 10, God gave Moses an order: “So now, go, I am sending you to Pharaoh to bring my people, the Israelites, out of Egypt.” God’s mandate was fulfilled after Moses was aided by the Lord our savior. For God’s gift and his call are irrevocable (Romans 11:29).
