Man’s Desire

Psalm 42:1 (NIV) aptly captures what man’s desire concerning God should be. It says, “As the deer pants for a stream of water so my soul pants for you, my God.” So it should be for a God that gave his only begotten son to die for humanity because of the love he has for us.

Romans 5:8 declares, “But God demonstrates his love for us in this: while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” In addition, God said, “see I have engraved you on the palms of my hand; your walls are ever before me,” (Isaiah 49:16). In the same vein, Deuteronomy 31:8 has this to say about the love God has for man, “The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.” And lastly, Matthew 28:20 gave an assurance of his abiding presence to all that believes in him. It states, “And teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always to the very end of the ages.”

In Isaiah 45:56, God declares, “I am the Lord, and there is no other, apart from me there is no God.” Then, in reference to those who do not believe in him, “I will not strengthen you, though you have not acknowledged me, so that from the rising of the Sun to the place of its setting people may know there is none besides me.” In conclusion, God desires that all mankind will accept him as the Alpha and Omega (Revelation 22:13).
