The Journey of Life: Part 3

In continuation of the “Journey of Life” series, we move on to the marketplace and the influence biblical teaching should have on it. It is a place where all humans, governments, businesses, and all their teams interact to establish the essence of society. There are, therefore, set values that are governed by rules and regulations for the seamless running of its activities. Sometimes, leadership and teams deviate from the values and rules and regulations guiding the marketplace, which leads to negative effects. This post seeks to establish these values according to the Bible.

In 2 Thessalonians 3:10, the Bible discourages laziness, meaning everyone has to go to the marketplace and make useful contributions that will help them make a living. Ephesians 6:5-11 (NIV) states what acceptable conduct is for employees and employers in a business setting. All who are born again are joint heirs with Christ, John 8:36, Galatians 3:28, and Galatians 4:7 make this statement clear to all. They are no longer slaves but children of God, as attested in John 1:12. Furthermore, 1 Timothy 5:18, Luke 10:7, and Colossians 3:23-24 dwell on how workers do their tasks, which then makes them deserving of their wages. The standard leaderships should adhere to is also explained in Proverbs 20:10, stating “differing weights and differing measures–the Lord detests them both. Therefore, leaders should perform with integrity in all aspects of execution.

The whole essence of the marketplace is for the growth of humanity and society within the confines of acceptable norms. We should use these Bible standards in the way we present ourselves always.
